Editorial policy
Rising Film Review aims to make film writing clear, attentive and fair. We distinguish what can be observed in a film from our interpretation of it, and we correct meaningful errors openly.
Accuracy and interpretation
We check factual details against reliable materials available to us and take care with names, credits, dates and descriptions. Film criticism also involves interpretation; we present readings as readings, explain what in the work supports them and avoid implying that one response is the only reasonable one.
Independence
Editorial decisions are made for readers, not to satisfy a partner or promote a film. A partnership does not guarantee coverage, a favourable view or editorial approval. We do not present promotional claims as independent assessment.
Corrections
If a reader spots a factual error or unclear passage, they can contact us through the Contact page. We review the concern and correct material errors, making the change clear when the correction would matter to a reader's understanding.
Partner material and illustrations
Paid placements and other partner material are labelled so readers can distinguish them from editorial work. Some illustrations may be AI-generated; when that is the case, the illustration is identified as such and is not presented as a film still or documentary evidence.
A film rewards another look.
A gesture, a held shot or a sound just beyond the dialogue can change how a scene lands. We make room to notice those details at an unhurried pace.
